The 'Black Skinhead' rapper, whose reality TV star girlfriend, Kim
Kardashian, gave birth to their first child, North West, in June, was
recently offered a spot on the judging panel of the FOX series for its
13th season but turned it down, as he was worried it would damage his
reputation.
A source told UsMagazine.com: "He didn't want to go that mainstream. He didn't want to lose any street cred. So he turned it down."
It was previously reported that Kanye, 36, wants Kim to quit 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' because he thinks reality TV contributes nothing to society.
A source said: "Kanye won't even let Kim talk to him on the phone while cameras are rolling. Kanye wants to maintain his private life.
"Kanye thinks the reality shows are a waste of time, and contribute nothing."
But Kanye isn't the only high profile rapper to seriously consider the multi-million dollar job.
The insider said that will.i.am, Sean 'Diddy' Combs and Rodney Jerkins also met with the show's producers recently but they decided to offer the spot to acclaimed record producer Dr. Luke, who has previously worked with Katy Perry and Britney Spears.
He is still currently in talks to become the third and final judge on the upcoming series, alongside Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban
