She's one of the world's most publicity-seeking women, a self-made celebrity famous for simply being herself.
But after the birth of her baby daughter Kim Kardashian surprised her fans by hiding away from the limelight.
Two months on and she is easing herself back into view - and in doing so is revealing the results of her post-birth bid to get back into shape.
Kim joined boyfriend Kanye West at a funeral service to honour his 98-year-old grandfather on Saturday.
And while the outing was most definitively not about Kim, it marked her first planned public appearance in front of photographers.
For the somber occasion Kim fittingly chose to wear all black, in a demure high-necked ruffled dress, and long sleeved cardigan.
While the outfit was an appropriate choice for the ceremony, it was also carefully chosen to flatter Kim's post-baby body.
Black's slimming qualities are famed, and keeping the same colour throughout the outfit added to the svelte look.
The sheer cardigan covered her arms - a typical problem area for many new mothers - while allowing a suitably modest glimpse of flesh.
The high heels lengthened her legs, a quality enhanced by the pale tone of the straps which did not chop her off at the ankle.
The new mother kept her hair simple and layered to flatter her softer look.
Following her pregnancy Kim has stuck with her usual styling team who take instruction from designer Nicola Formichetti.
'Kim's hips, bum and bra size are still larger than normal for her, so Nicola is dressing Kim head to toe in monotone colours, like she wore on Kris [Jenner's] show, and using detailed tailoring to show off her post baby assets,' a source told Look magazine.
'The price tag for Nicola's designs , as well as two assistants, comes in at around £10,000 per week.'
At two months postpartum, experts would not expect Kim to have lost all her baby weight.
Indeed, many state that new mothers should allow for it to take nine months to regain their figure - having taken that long to gain the weight.
However it is clear Kim has been working hard to shed the pounds - focusing on a healthy diet and targeted exercise regime.
The 32-year-old is widely reported to have dropped 30lbs from her peak, leaving her with another 30 to go before she reaches her pre-baby weight of 115lbs.
'Everyone is waiting for her first picture, so she wants to go out there with a bang,' a source told Us magazine.
Kim worked with personal trainer Tracy Anderson throughout her pregnancy, and the trainer has talked about her plan for Kim.
'In the beginning, it's key getting the deep abdominal muscles back and making sure that you get the strength back in the right layers,' Anderson said.
'She's not going to be doing any typical crunches or anything like that.'
Anderson explained that Kim would start off working out four days a week and gradually work up to five or six days.
And the celebrity trainer - who has worked with everyone from Gwyneth Paltrow to Jennifer Lopez - said Kim had a great attitude.
'She promised me she would be the best student ever, and I promised her that I would do it personally for her, that I would go to her myself and get her back,' Anderson said.
'Kim is super motivated. She's all in.'
Along with exercise, Kim is also working on eating more healthily, having enjoyed the chance to indulge herself while pregnant.
The new mother has reportedly hired Katie Holmes's post baby private chef to come to her house every morning to organise her daily meals.
'Kim has ordered the woman to prep five small meals a day, with emphasis on veg, clean proteins such as fish and tofu and diet-friendly snacks,' the source told Look magazine.
