Apparently, Aishwarya Rai's true match is N4 beige which, one fan says, "is too light for her skin tone."
A number of fans on the Pinkvilla site responded negatively to Rai's latest ad for L'Oréal, saying that the photoshop made her upper lip look funny and L'Oréal was obviously trying to lighten her skin.
Here are some of their comments:
"The airbrushing team should be fired, they've done a disgraceful job here. :("
"Interesting that she wears shade "N4 Beige" which is a tan shade but L'Oréal (or, is it her?) insists on whitening her on the ad."
"Her upper lip looks weird...Bad editing...She is much more beautiful than this, why this photoshop...???"
"@that's not your TRUE MATCH> that's a match ten times lighter than your skin color. ha ha ha yeah sure but you know aishwarya and loreal are both famous for skin bleach!!!"
"Beautiful but what happened to her upper lip?"
"What the hell happen to her face?"
Of course, there were people who loved the ad as well, saying:
"Love the shape of her eyes!"
"Stunning."
"Wow... sizzling hot."
We agree that Aishwarya Rai looks great in almost any photograph. She does have lovely eyes and her heart-shaped face is very photogenic.
But she definitely looks lighter here than she does in general which indicates that either lighting or photoshop were used to make her look light-skinned.
It is great to see that people are objecting to this and criticizing L'Oréal for trying to sell lighter skin to Indian women.
But Aishwarya Rai herself could have taken a stand and said that she didn't want to be portrayed as light-skinned. That would have made a much bigger impact.
