Why is Kim Kardashian being silent on baby birth

Rapper Kanye West, left, and Kim Kardashian arriving at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala benefit in New York. Kardashian gave birth to a girl on June 15, 2013, in Los Angeles, according to celebrity website TMZ. It is the couple's first child.
Kim Kardashian gave birth on Saturday and since then, there's been a veritable – and very uncharacteristic – media blackout surrounding the delivery.
Kardashian did email Ryan Seacrest, who produces her reality shows, to sum up motherhood, in comments he aired on his Tuesday radio show: "Can't believe it. So crazy!"
So what's the deal with the wall of silence?
"Everyone has looked at Kim Kardashian's body and examined it top to bottom and made enormous speculations constantly about what is going on with and to her. Since we haven't heard anything for a few days, everyone is in a panic," says pop culture expert Miranda Banks, an assistant professor at the School of Visual and Media Arts at Emerson College in Boston.

"It's only been a few days. But given how obsessed she is with performing for the cameras and talking to her fans, this lack of communication feels like an insult to her fans. It's weird we haven't gotten a picture of mom and baby. So we wonder if something is wrong."
Luckily for Kardashian, other voices have filled the void. Beyonce too congratulated Kardashian, via Tumblr, adding to the celebrities who have posted well wishes. Brittny Gastineau, who was snapped visiting Kardashian at the hospital, Tweeted that she was having "dinner with my BFF and new mommy!"
The media iron curtain is a savvy move, says Splash News founder Gary Morgan.
"It's either because they're working on offers, or preparing the baby for (Kardashian's) TV show," says Morgan. "There's probably two pictures in the world today that people want to see: Jennifer Aniston pregnant, and Kim Kardashian's baby. The revelation will be very tightly controlled. You won't see them wandering around with the baby. There will be a lot of money changing hands. That will fuel the hunger more for the first candid shot of the baby."

How much cash? A lot, but not on par with truly A-list couples. "One thing Kim is good at is massaging the media. They'll make sure this works to their advantage. Whenever they need to release it, they will. This won't be as big as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's babies, but it will be a high number. The global appeal is massive," says Morgan.
Still, for a family known for maximizing the media value of weddings, births and red carpet outings, everyone is staying tight-lipped. Kanye West, no stranger to self-promotion, has used his Twitter feed solely to hype his new release. "YEEZUS ALBUM NOW AVAILABLE AT http://KANYEWEST.COM," he Tweeted.
To date, there's no baby name, no details about the birth, and no photos. Media-savvy matriarch and momager Kris Jenner said at Sunday's Daytime Emmys that the baby is "beautiful." A bit uncharacteristic for a family who aired sister Kourtney's delivery of son Mason on the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and featured Kim using Kourtney's breast milk to treat her psoriasis on ‘Kourtney and Kim Take Miami’.
"This change in behavior is surprising. You hope they're focused on the health of the baby, as opposed to her relationship with the media. She wasn't supposed to give birth the same week as Kanye's album came out. I'm guessing they're renegotiating things," says Banks, referring to baby photos.
Of course, that hasn't stopped speculation about the delivery, which happened earlier than planned, perhaps by as much as five weeks. Kardashian was reportedly due in July.
