Saddened by Bollywood actress Jiah Khan's suicide, Vidya Balan today said she does not understand why some people take the extreme step.

"It is very unfortunate. I hope no one ever has reason enough to end their life. I really can't imagine whether that requires courage or the opposite of that, because I have never been able to fathom why people commit suicide...I think it is very sad," Vidya told reporters here.
25-year-old Jiah had committed suicide at her residence in Mumbai on June 3 allegedly over her broken relationship with aspiring actor Suraj Pancholi, son of actor couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab.

Vidya was in the city to promote her upcoming comic-thriller film Ghanchakkar.
"It is a very unique genre film which breaks new ground by taking entertainment to the next level," said The Dirty Picture actress.
On her look in the film, Balan said she is playing a healthy Punjabi housewife who has a fetish for fashion.
"To become fashionable some people wear clothes which doesn't suit their body or personality. And this lady does that. It's crazy," she said.
Directed by Rajkumar Gupta, Ghanchakkar hits theatres June 28 and also stars Emraan Hashmi.
