He worked with all the family members of the Bachchan family and
shared a very warm relation with each of them. It is evident from the tweets
that Abhishek posted stating, "Just realised that Ritu da was the only
director that my family have all worked with individually. Pa (Amitabh) - 'The
Last Lear', Ma (Jaya) - 'Sunglass'… Aishwarya - 'Chokher Bali', and 'Raincoat'
and me - 'Antarmahal'." He also added, "Absolutely shocked with the
news of the passing of Ritu da. A dear friend and a great director and a
wonderful, wonderful human. RIP."
Rituparno has worked with all the Bachchans once, but twice with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the movies ‘Chokher Bali’ and ‘Raincoat’. Rituparno got acquainted with the beautiful diva during the shootings and was immediately own by her charms. Two of them shared a comfort level that is visible in the photos of the director and actress from the film sets. Recalling his experience with Aishwarya, Rituparno fondly stated that, ‘’I think I share a special bond with Aishwarya. We have done two films together and we connected very well. Soha, Koko (Konkona Sen Sharma) and Abhishek are like kids to me because I am so close to their parents. But Ash is different. She is practical, understanding, sensitive and very, very intelligent. Nowhere close to the fancy prima donna she is made out to be.’’
The film ‘Last Lear’ that released in the year 2007, starred Amitabh Bachchan as the protagonist. The movie received huge critical acclaim in the Toronto and London International Film Festivals. It was even said that Amitabh had given his best performance in the flick. The movie went on to win the national award for the Best English movie of the year 2007. Big B mentioned that even few days back they were discussing about making a movie and said, "We had spoken on the phone a few days back about a film which we wanted to make together." Amitabh tweeted, "A sad day ! Rituparno Ghosh, that young and brilliant director producer of some remarkable Bengal films, passes away .. shocked !!"
Abhishek starred in Rituparno’s 2005 Bengali film, Antarmahal. Jaya Bachchan worked in Rituparno’s film ‘Sunglass’ which is yet to release
