Superman sidekick
Amy Adams was forced to hide under a huge umbrella as she arrived at
the London premiere of the latest movie in the comic book hero series
last night.
The 38-year-old American, who plays
Lois Lane, looked pretty as a picture but decidedly chilly in a
strapless Valentino chiffon prom dress as she walked down a special blue
carpet, emblazoned with the Superman logo.
Henry
Cavill, the dashingly handsome British 30-year-old who is the latest
actor to don Superman’s famous red cape, got drenched but displayed a
suitable stiff upper lip as if to show that he is used to our constant
downpours.
Man-of-the-moment Cavill, born in
Jersey, talked of the pleasure of wearing his Superman costume for the
new film, called Man Of Steel.
The first time I put it on it was like it had a force of its own. When I put it on I felt different and people behaved differently around me
He said: “The
first time I put it on it was like it had a force of its own. When I put
it on I felt different and people behaved differently around me. It
really felt like we were creating something special.”
Hollywood big hitters Kevin Costner and Diane Lane play his parents in the new blockbuster.
Meanwhile Russell Crowe, who was at last night’s premiere in Leicester Square, plays Superman’s biological father Jor-El.
The movie opens in cinemas tomorrow and promises to be one of the summer’s biggest hits.
The film series was launched back in 1978 with the late Christopher Reeve in the lead role
