Nafisa Khan died because of Suraj, not because of professional failure: Mother

Almost 5 days after Nafisa Khan aka Jiah Khan’s death, her mother Rabiya Khan and her sisters have come out loud, claiming that her daughter had fallen for a wrong guy (Suraj Pancholi, her boyfriend). In an interview to a daily, her mother has asserted, “Reports that my daughter was depressed because of work is all rubbish. She was fine; she was sincere, pure and not manipulative at all. She could not stand lies. Deception and lies from the only one she loved the most. I’m not being revengeful but telling the truth – she fell for a wrong guy."

While the late actresses’ sisters – Karisma and Kavita – describe Nafisa as a hopeless romantic. Said Karisma, “It was love that came first for her, and work later. It is sad that the person she confided in and was looking for approval, broke her self esteem. Jiah was not happy in her relationship.”

Reportedly, a few days ahead of Jiah’s suicide, her mother had urged Suraj to distance himself from her. Rabiya, reportedly, didn’t even approve of Aditya Pancholi’s family’s presence at their home on the day of the funeral.

She did not commit suicide because of her work issues, reiterates her family. “She was very happy; she even told me she got a film and that I should not tell mom since she wanted to break the news to her by herself. We spoke for hours, and before I took off from London, we kept sending each other text smileys. She was very happy. All these stories about depression are utter rubbish. We would've known if she was depressed – she was really happy. We are a very close famil,” claims her sister Karisma.

Nafisa’s family expected Suraj to come out and tell the truth about what really happened that night and what forced her to take her life. Karisma asked, “Did the police only found three messages? I am sure something mean must have been told to her for to take that drastic step. There were six missed calls from Suraj after she passed way.”
