With the enormous IT growth engine almost central around the other
three southern states. Kerala never felt the need to augment its
technical education system.
Only, with the recently emergence of Cochin and Trivandrum as IT
services hub, the state has begun to augment its capacity. In the last
five years very good colleges have come up in the Private sector. While a
few good private sector colleges like the TKM Engineering College in
Kollam did exist the state has seen a huge number if colleges being
set-up in the last decade.
Also, another feather in the state's cap is the establishment of the
Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology at Trivandrum by ISRO.
