IPL 2013 spot-fixing controversy: Vindoo Dara Singh carried gifts for Asad Rauf, says Mumbai police

IPL 2013 spot-fixing controversy: Vindoo Dara Singh carried gifts for Asad Rauf, says Mumbai policeSources in the Mumbai Crime Branch have revealed that Bollywood actor Vindoo Dara Singh carried gifts for Asad Rauf.

Sources also said that the Pakistani umpire may have been involved in dealings with some of the bookies, who have been arrested in relation with the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013 spot-fixing controversy, as reported by Mid-Day.

This comes after the umpire was removed from the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 for his alleged role in controversy.

The officials have a hamper with pay-offs intended for Rauf stuck in the air cargo at the Delhi airport. The hamper includes gold ornaments, watches and other electronic appliances.

The gifts were sent by a bookie named Pawan Jaipur, who has been arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch.

“The consignment was handed over by Pawan to Bollywood actor Vindoo Dara Singh, who was to deliver it to Rauf. Rauf was in Delhi for a match and was staying at a five-star hotel there,” said a Crime Branch official.

Vindoo handed over the task to a Delhi-based businessman named Prem Taneja. But the Crime Branch officials arrested Taneja before he could deliver the gifts to Rauf.

“With Taneja being accused, the consignment which he was to deliver to Rauf is still lying in the air cargo at Delhi airport,” a source from the Crime Branch revealed
