Rituparno Ghosh’s special bond with Aishwarya Rai and Bachchans

In pics: Rituparno Ghosh’s special bond with Aishwarya Rai and Bachchans A director with a deep understanding of women’s psyche, Rituparno Ghosh directed Aishwarya Rai first in the Bengali movie Chokher Bali and then in the Hindi movie Raincoat. During the making of these films, Ghosh came to know and understand Aishwarya, so much so that he wrote a very personal note to her (we reveal the note in the coming slides) in which he described her as a “spontaneous, warm, genuine and caring person”.

Aishwarya Rai too felt a strong bond towards him and reached out to him in his hour of grief, as Rituparno Ghosh himself admitted. Naturally, she’s shocked and saddened by Ghosh’s untimely death at the age of just 49. The filmmaker was suffering from pancreatitis. He passed away at his South Kolkata residence in sleep around 7.30 a.m. on Thursday following a massive cardiac arrest.

“I am shocked and deeply saddened by this news. I just can't believe it. May his soul rest in peace,” Aishwarya Rai said in a statement.

Abhishek Bachchan too expressed his shock and also pointed out that Rituparno Ghosh was the only filmmaker to have directed each one in the Bachchan family separately.

“Just realised that Ritu da was the only director that my family have all worked with individually. Pa- The Last Lear, Ma- Sunglasses…Aishwarya - Chokher Bali, Raincoat and me- Antarmahal,” Abhishek Bachchan tweeted.

Ahead, ApunKaChoice brings you some candid moments of Rituparno Ghosh with the Bachchans. Don’t miss
