Aishwarya Rai Bachchan first attended Cannes Film Festival at the
premiere of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas along with Shahrukh Khan in
2002. For her debut appearance, she chose to wear a golden Neeta Lulla
saree with heavy gold jewellery.
In the year 2003, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan became the first ever Indian
actor to be the jury member at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
This year, she was criticised badly by the fashion police for her choice
of clothes. She wore a neon green Neeta Lulla sari with her hair tied
in a bun. Later, she was criticised again for wearing a shimmering pink
dress.
In 2004 also she was under the scanner for wearing a very revealing
dress at the festival. But finally in 2005, she won praises for her
selection of gowns.
Last year, Aishwarya made headlines for her post pregnancy weight and
for not reducing enough weight for Cannes. But this year, the diva came
back with a bang! Not only she has reduced a lot of weight, she was
looking stunning on the red carpet. This year, she chose to go both
Indian and Western at the 66th Cannes Film Festival.
