The first song of Dhanush-Sonam Kapoor starrer Raanjhanaa is out and it seems as though the AR Rahman magic is back. Tum Tak
is a folk-classical song picturised in Benaras and shows the two lead
characters, Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush, and the journey of their love
story. With its soft, romantic melody, Rahman’s composition pulls at
your heartstrings and the visuals match the tenderness of the tune.
During the course of the song, we see the lead pair go from childhood to maturity. From an awestruck little boy (dressed as Lord Shiva wearing Dabaang glasses) who falls for a girl the first time he sees her knelt in prayer, to a love-struck teenager who f0llows the effervescent girl-next-door relentlessly (not stopping even when she slaps him. Maybe that’s because she look so happy while slapping him) and finally as a young man and woman doing what Bollywood has taught us Holi is for: avowing affection using colours.
Just in case Dhanush’s strongly-accented Hindi made North Indian
brows furrow, there’s a monologue at the start of the song that attempts
to explains why he sounds the way he does. Whether or not you’re
convinced that Dhanush could play a Banarasi, it’s clear from this video
that he’s convincing as lovestruck hero. Playing his love interest is
Sonam, who looks lovely and natural which is a refreshing change from
the high-gloss and glamour of her usual red carpet appearances.
