Celtics forward Kris Humphries sold the massive diamond engagement ring he gave to reality television star Kim Kardashian for $749,000 at a Christie’s auction on Wednesday.
The ring, which reportedly cost Humphries about $2 million in 2011, was expected to sell for $300,000 to $500,000.
Listed as “An impressive Diamond Ring, by Lorraine Schwartz,” it was included in Christie’s “Magnificent Jewels” collection that went on the block in New York City. The ring’s lot text noted that it was “property of a gentleman” and that a portion of proceeds would go to charity.
