Once Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s favourite actress, Aishwarya Rai
Bachchan, with whom he has churned out many hit films, is no more a
part of his projects in the near future. What makes us say so is the
fact that SLB has quite clearly voiced out his preferences and choices
when it comes to his film.
A source close to Bhansali reveals the director is totally smitten
by his latest leading actress Deepika Padukone in Ram Leela. “It’ not
easy to impress Sanjay Leela Bhansali. However, Deepika Padukone has
managed to do it. The biggest compliment was when Bhansali told Deepika
that she did her best for the film and completely justified her
character Leela, a name that is extremely close to Sanjay since that's
his mother's name,” adds source. (His middle name 'Leela' is because
he's taken his mother's name)
Bhansali had recently reaped praises on Dippy for his classic dance
moves while performing garba for one of the songs in the film. So far,
SLB has always been bowled over by Ash -- for both acting skills and of
course garba in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
What further confirms the changed mindset and preferences of Sanjay Bhansali is the fact that he replaced Aishwarya with Priyanka Chopra in an item song for Ram Leela which also stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role.
